How do you come together and share a resource?
Women in the U.S. partner with women in Kenya to purchase 10,000 liter tanks in order to catch rain water for drinking. With the time saved – up to 5 hours a day – because they no longer walk to find disease carrying water, Kenyan women start small businesses, send their daughters to school and mentor their neighbors in development projects. US women partner by sending money – dollar for dollar – and by working side-by-side in Kenya on projects the Kenyan women have identified.
How would your group use the award money?
Every last penny will be sent to Kenya to match what the Kenyan women have already saved. The rains are coming now and installment of as many tanks as possible will directly save lives when the rains cease. With $5,000, approximately 5 tanks can be purchased, saving and forever changing the lives of 35 to 50 women, their families and often their neighbors.
