Plymouth Piece Makers

How do you come together and share a resource?

We are women of Plymouth Church who bring comfort to others with our homemade quilts. Some of the recipients of our quilts are companions at Plymouth Healing Communities—individuals who share a group home for one year with residents who are recovering from mental illness.

How would your group use the award money?

No money is exchanged in the making of our quilts. We use fabrics and batting from our personal stashes or share with each other. Any reward money would be donated to Plymouth Healing Communities.

These quilts are such gifts, having their lovingly made reminders of a sense of home in situations where there is usually discomfort makes these works of art so special, particularly the inscriptions on the back which reminds the giftee, how the quilts are durable enough for the individual recieving the quilt is what makes these treasures remind the recipient how much they are cared about by someone they have never met and in what makes these treasures so special
