We have a crisis affecting our cats in Snohomish County. And we're not unique.
There are cats running around sewing their oats and inundating our shelters!
The way we're unique in Snohomish County is that several nonprofit animal welfare organizations, government agencies, businesses and concerned citizens have come together to work on solutions. We're also unique because we are proactive, solution oriented, we're not fighting like cats and dogs plus we're going to put a positive spin on this problem and seek fun and creative ways to solve it. Together we will help the homeless cats of our community find furever loving homes and keep those who have homes safe and healthy.
For instance, does the public know that spay and neuter helps stop spraying, yowling, and fighting and prevents unwanted kittens from being born? Do they realize these kittens often end up reproducing exponentially! Most people acquire their family cat because it shows up at the door not through adoption. Do they know if it is lost or simply wandering? Not usually because it doesn't have any identification.
Through our combined efforts we are going to provide one consistent message to the community about the roles of spay and neuter plus identification for cats. In addition, we will work together on combined adoption events. By using one consistent message we can pull our power to reach a wider audience in our community. These funds will give our efforts an immense leg up invigorating our efforts and allowing us to launch into our first campaigns for adoption, and spay and neuter.
How do you come together and share a resource?
Pawsitive Alliance’s mission is to end the killing of adoptable dogs and cats in Washington by increasing shelter adoptions, supporting programs for spaying and neutering, and providing educational resources and training to the public. We are a catalyst for change by collaborating and organizing groups and individuals to work together toward positive solutions.
How would your group use the award money?
Just last Thursday a group of concerned individuals representing a diverse constituency came together in the middle of an afternoon in Everett, gathered to work together to help cats in Snohomish County. Discussing the issues facing cats and our agencies’ role in creating a solution to eliminate the high numbers of cats free roaming and reproducing causing a staggering amount to be abandoned and often times euthanized. Our plan is to increase adoptions through combined special events, fundraise to increase spays and neuters for the public and providing educational resources to teach the public the importance of spay and neuter, licensing and identifying their pet so they can be returned home.

As the Executive Director of Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project I support Pawsitive Alliance in all of their efforts to do right by animals and the people who care about them. The difference they are making in this community is huge and their momentum is building. They link agencies and promote collaboration which is exactly what is needed.

Pawsitive Alliance does a tremendous amount for our community with neutering events for cats and dogs, plus they coordinate events that get cats and dogs at risk adopted into good homes. As a non-profit they are excellent stewards of the monies they get. Put a dollar in their hands and they will get the mileage of ten out of it. I am a huge fan of Pawsitive Alliance.

I, too, am glad and proud to support the efforts of Pawsitive Alliance. Their grass roots efforts and attitudes make the difference in protecting and saving mistreated and unwanted cats and dogs in our community. Bless the beasts..they have no voice, they have no choice. With continued support, Pawsitive Alliance continues to “speak” for them.

Pawsitive Alliance helps many homeless pets find homes. Also, their pre-adoption workshop was a great help to me. They are a fantastic organization!

We had a great experience with PA. We adopted a pet one year ago and want to do so again- through PA. They put a lot of work, effort and tons of time. A very “pawsitive” experience.

We ALL need to come together as one and make a difference NOW! Pawsitive Alliance has helped out others in so many ways. I’m proud to be affiliated with them. I help P.A. with donations and helping other shelters with their needs. Let’s end this problem and let’s begin now! Go PAWSITIVE ALLIANCE!

Pawsitive Alliance has worked hard and long to help felines in the community. They help in any way they can to keep animals alive and healthy. They reach far and wide to help when help is needed. Wish there were more like Pawsitive Allicance.

I really appreciate Pawsitive Alliance for their work on behalf of all the cats. I also appreciate their work in having pet fairs and preadoption seminars to find just the right dog. You rock, Pawsitive Alliance!

Pawsitive Alliance stands out in the crowd. This is a group of dedicated individuals who run a first class non-profit organization dedicated to helping other animal rescue organizations in the State of Washington find homes for homeless animals. Their dedication to the animals speaks volumes for their care and compassion. We, at Wags to Riches Animal Rescue, appreciate all they do for the animals.

Pawsitive Alliance makes a difference in our communities and is dedicated to responsible pet ownership.

Spay/Neuter is the single best long-term solution to halting the killing in shelters. Adoption from a shelter, never purchasing from a breeder or pet store, is the second best action towards a no-kill community. Our counties and cities will not accomplish no-kill status without help from dedicated volunteers and non-profit organizations. Pawsitive Alliance makes a difference for animals and all other animal related agencies as well.
Karen
Pawsitive Alliance is an all volunteer group, so all funds donated go directly to helping the animals. Pawsitive Alliance has worked with many shelters and rescue groups to facilitate hundreds of adoptions that might not have occured otherwise. This group is an asset to the communities it serves.

I have volunteered several times at P.A. They don’t just get rid of the dogs and cats they make sure the are going to loving homes as a “pet”. They’re all we’ll have after seattle/king county close down!

Pawsitive Alliance has a proven record of collaborating with nonprofits, concerned citizens, and businesses to help solve problems related to companion animal welfare. This cooperative approach is the most effective way to address serious community issues. I wholeheartedly recommend this award be granted to Pawsitive Alliance.

I have had the priviledge of participating in many of the offsite adoption events that Pawsitive Alliance have coordinated over the past few years. Having them activily pursue the best for our cats and dogs through spay and neuter education and ways to find more homeless animals homes is a blessing to our communities. Keep up the great work!

This is a model that works, and Pawsitive Alliance will ensure every penny is leveraged to help prevent unwanted/unplanned cat reproduction. As our government agencies(let’s just directly say King County)appear to be shedding it’s animal care responsibilities, let’s all help Pawsitive Alliance do the right thing.

Pawsitive Alliance is one of the leaders in hard work and results to alleviate the problems of pet overpopulation. Many thanks to their staff and volunteers for making the Seattle area a better and healthier place for dogs and cats.
