How do you come together and share a resource?
The people of the ECSA Open Division is our shared resource.
We come together to teach each other the value of leadership, mentorship, teamwork, commitment, friendship, and accomplishment.
We build each other by serving as role models for traits and values that are important in athletics, as well as the rest of the game of life.
How would your group use the award money?
Our group has grown by more than 50% since 2003. We’re serving an important role in the gay community — a community with many at-risk adults.
We have grown so large that we have outgrown our regular-season venue, which is three fields at North Seatac Park.
Additional funding will accomplish two objectives:
1) Enable our continued growth in the Seattle area. We have people interested in steeping up into new leadership positions in our league, willing to create new teams which could grow up by up to 20% in a single year
2) We are seeking to expand our LGBT softball league to other areas of the state. In December, we’re conducting an outreach function in Spokane, with the goal of creating a league in that city. In 2011, we plan to expand to other communities in Washington state. Bellingham, Everett, and Olympia are potential target communities for this further growth.
