How do you come together and share a resource?
As a co-op preschool, the parents take turns in the classroom. They help the teachers teach and make sure the kids have fun. The preschool’s administrative tasks are done on a volunteer basis by the parents. This keeps overhead low and tuition even lower. We also come together as a group once a month to discuss preschool issues and take parenting courses with our Bellevue College director. The preschool would not work without this cooperative spirit at its core.
How would your group use the award money?
Our co-op would use the money in two main ways. One, our overhead is low because the parents volunteer for administrative tasks. Some of the money would go into our operating budget as a financial cushion against future expenses. Second, tuiton scholarships are a priority for the school. The ailing economy has resulted in a record number of requests for scholarship money. The award money would help fund these scholarships and ensure low cost and high quality preschool for families in need.

BC coop is such a wonderful place! Where children are able to learn and grow in a loving, engaging and inspiring environment, and the parents grow right along with them! It has been fabulous being a part of this school! I hope to have more children enrolled there soon!

I’m very happy that my son Jason goes to this wonderfull pre-school, he’s only been there for a couple of weeks and he’s loving it!!!! It’s a great community,and everyone knows everyone….obviously a whole lot of people knows about this great place !!!!
