Dawg Pound, Garfield High School Alumni Class of 83, 84 and 85
How do you come together and share a resource?
The Dawg Pound is a group composed of Alumni from Garfield High School: Classes of 1983, 1984 and 1985. We recently had a multi year high school reunion called “come back to give back” and made it a charity event for Central Area Youth Association. We came back together to give back to our community. It was not acceptable for us as responsible adults to just reunite for a picnic.
We burned a cd of hits from 83,84 and 85 and gave it as a take away for anyone who donated funds. We also drove up individual donations by gifting a big stuffed Bulldog (high school mascot) to the individual who gave the most.
The whole event cost $200.00 (covered by Dawg Pound) and 100% of the $800.00 went directly to the Central Area Youth Association!!!
We are committed to make this an annual event and feel great about what we can achieve as a group.
We have a committee of 6 people and work closely with the Director of CAYA to investigate their needs and ask that CAYA be accountable for how our donations benefit the organization.
How would your group use the award money?
Throw a BIG charity event to raise money for CAYA,by keeping the costs to a minimum we can then donate the remainder so they can get their kitchen updated to serve the kids hot meals.
We also want to challenge other high school alum to do the same in their communities.

Greetings
CAYA has a long and storied history of positive impact in the community…it is deserving of such support. Furthermore, it is such a small organization that a gift of this size would have a significant and meaningful impact on their ability to serve the children in the community.
Selecting CAYA for this donation would be an excellent choice.
